Frequently Asked Questions — Botox® for Face Slimming / Masseter Reduction

How many units of Botox are normally required to slim the masseters?

Dosage is personalised, but most adults need 25–40 units per side (total 50–80 units). Stronger or male masseters can require more; your exact dose is determined during consultation.

Discomfort is minimal. We use a very fine needle; most patients describe the injections as quick “pin-pricks.” Numbing cream or ice can be applied on request.

You’ll feel jaw tension ease within 7–10 days, but visible contouring develops gradually as the muscle thins. Peak slimming appears around Week 6.

Normal chewing is maintained. Only intense, prolonged clenching strength is reduced. If you grind at night, you’ll likely notice less morning soreness without functional issues.

Masseter slimming and TMJ relief last 3–4 months. Re-injecting two to three times per year keeps the jawline tapered and symptoms controlled.

Absolutely. Many patients pair masseter reduction with chin or jawline fillers—or with radio-frequency skin tightening—to create an overall V-shape. Treatments can be done in the same visit or staged.

When performed by a qualified clinician, risks are very low. Temporary bruising, mild swelling, or headache can occur. Rarely, an overly weak masseter can cause chewing fatigue—this resolves as the toxin wears off.

Yes—if you discontinue injections, the masseter will gradually regain bulk over 4–6 months, returning to your natural jaw width. There is no permanent change.

Pricing depends on the number of units required. We’ll provide an exact quote after assessing your muscle size and goals during your consultation.
